Our Story

Makings of Fine Kitchens & Bathrooms was created by Shaun Makings in 2001. Shaun had spent many years in the construction industry and recognised that there was a lot of room for improvement. Now, with 30+ years of experience, countless qualifications and licenses, endless passion and pride in his work and a genuine sense of care and responsibility for his clients, Shaun has built Makings of Fine Kitchens & Bathrooms into one of the best home renovation companies Brisbane has to offer.

Our Purpose

At Makings of Fine Kitchens & Bathrooms, our purpose is to design and create liveable, functional and luxurious bespoke kitchens, bathrooms, interiors and home renovations Brisbane-wide. We utilise the latest technology, high-quality products, superior craftsmanship and environmentally friendly processes to achieve innovative, long-lasting and impactful outcomes.

Our Process

We’ve developed a tried and true 10-step process that allows us to effectively communicate, coordinate and collaborate with our Brisbane home renovation clients every step of the way.

Here’s what the journey looks like from concept to completion…

  1. We organise an onsite consultation to introduce ourselves and discuss initial ideas.
  2. We create a detailed job specification and quote for you to review.
  3. You come back to us with any questions before accepting the quote and signing the contract.
  4. We get started on the design process and share drafts with you.
  5. You provide feedback and we suggest amendments while creating realistic 3D renderings.
  6. You provide final approval, sign off on the design and select ideal materials, fixtures and fittings.
  7. Our manufacturing team brings your ideas to life.
  8. Installation commences and is supervised by your dedicated Site Manager.
  9. Your project is completed and finalised, adhering to all building codes, Australian Standards and best practices.
  10. You receive a quality guarantee to cover all our products for long-term peace of mind.

Our highly qualified and experienced team consists of both in-house staff and trusted, reliable, fully-licensed contractors and suppliers, all guided by the Founder and Principal of Makings of Fine Kitchens & Bathrooms, Shaun Makings.

Each of our talented staff members are industry experts in their chosen field who work together seamlessly to produce incredible bathroom renovations, stunning kitchen design and magnificent full-scale home transformations. They are passionate about creating spaces that solve problems and enhance lifestyles.

Shaun Makings

Director

Shaun is the founder and principal of Makings of Fine Kitchens & Bathrooms and oversees all aspects of projects from concept to completion.

Shaun’s 30 years of experience in the construction industry has provided him with the knowledge and foresight to overcome any obstacles that a project may have. He is known for his ability to deliver optimal design and construction solutions.

With Shaun’s experience and commitment to keeping up to date with the latest trends and products, the company remains at the forefront of kitchen and bathroom design.

Shaun is a qualified KBDI designer, cabinetmaker and holds a QBCC licence in Joinery and Restricted Builder in Kitchens, Bathrooms and Laundry installations. He is also a member of the Housing Industry Association (HIA), and is a qualified agent for Vitroglaze.

Mark Stehbens

Lead Designer

Mark is our lead designer and enjoys tapping into his creativity to bring our clients' unique plans to life. He is a designer member of the KBDI (Kitchen and Bathroom Designers Institute) and specialises in designing incredible kitchens, bathrooms and interior spaces.

Mark is also a qualified cabinetmaker and has more than 20 years of experience in cabinetmaking, design, manufacturing and site coordination. Not only will he provide you with a design that looks amazing, but he will also ensure that it is functional and perfectly suits your individual lifestyle.
